Eastern White Cedar Shingles
Naturally resistant to decay and weathering and requiring minimal maintenance, Eastern White Cedar shingles are a striking and cost-effective choice for roofing and cladding. They can bring a ‘New England look’ to a property and one of their advantages is that they have no tannins, which can cause discolouration over time.

Width - Shingles are delivered in various widths.
These Eastern White Cedar shingles are sawn (taper), random width, flat/edge grains, not bevelled at butt. 3-ply cladding on wall or roof recommended.

Coverage
The type of wood, shingle length, method of laying, weather exposure and desired covering density should be taken into consideration when making calculations.
Please note: shakes and shingles are supplied in random widths and the packs calculated for a given coverage. They should be used ‘as they come’, packs should not be sorted for widths.
Roof – shingles should be laid 3-ply
Exterior façade/wall – shingles should be laid 2-ply to 3-ply
Interior wall – shingles can be laid 2-ply

The exposure should not exceed ⅓ the length of the shingle. Minimum roof pitch approx. 18-20°

Shingles can be pre-drilled and stainless steel nails should be used.

Timber shakes and shingles are delivered on a pallet. Please ensure you have the appropriate equipment and personnel to manage unloading, which might require more than one person.
