Sawn Timber

British Elm Sawn Timber

Elm, British Ulmus procera

Since the onset of Dutch Elm disease, the availability of British Elm has been in decline and nearly all commercial stock is now sourced in Scotland. Despite this devastating disease, we have limited stocks of this stunning wood. With lovely, wild figured grain (often with small cluster pip knots) and a warm reddish-brown colour, British Elm has a very distinctive character.

British Elm is most commonly used for furniture, where its attractive grain, natural lustre and durability are showcased to advantage. It is also an excellent option for flooring, as its hard-wearing and robust nature, along with the beauty of the wood, make for a superior product. Elm sands, polishes and stains well.
