Elm (Ulmus glabra)
Elm wood is strong and durable with a tight-twisted grain. A rich, warm light to medium reddish-brown colour, Elm is used in decorative turning, and to make boats and boat parts, furniture, wheel hubs and floorboards.
Our Elm is British grown. and is of mixed grade so you may find some small splits, knots and odd dead worm holes
Our turning blanks are carefully selected by our expert staff. The quality control inspection ensures our blanks are split and shake free as possible. Every blank has hot wax applied to the end grain and edges to prevent end splitting through the drying process. This ensures your finished object will be stable when brought into a centrally heated environment.
