Mappa Burr Pair of Boards 50mm

£180.00

European Black Poplar (Populus nigra)

Heartwood tends to be a light brown. Sapwood is a pale yellow to nearly white, and isn’t clearly demarcated, tending to gradually blend into the heartwood. This species also yields a unique burr that’s commonly sold as Mappa.

Easy to work with hand and machine tools, though sharp cutters are necessary when planing to avoid fuzzy surfaces, (subsequent fine-sanding may be necessary to obtain a smooth surface). Wood has a tendency to warp and distort during drying. Glues and finishes well.

50mm thick, 1 live edge/ 1 square edge pair of boards.

Ideal for resin river tables.

Note: Sawn character boards may have some shape, uneven surfaces, uneven thickness, splits or old worm holes.

L 160cm W 35cm
